UCDC Beta 0.4 - The Little Things Update



Major Additions

  • Slimes now have a chance to melt into a slime puddle, which you can scoop up into bottles, giving you Slime Jelly, and drink for stat boosts, though less potent than normal potions.
  • Stats no longer tick down when not in battle.
  • Added a new miniboss: Giant Slimes: the more sizable cousin of the Common Slime that shoots two slimeballs instead of one.
  • Unlock the Gorgon miniboss at Depth 22 instead of 15.
  • Throw Cheese at a Giant Rat to befriend it, giving you a Pet Rat, which can be used to deal DPS through a whole fight.
  • Added poisoning, which can now be inflicted with the new enemy: the Poison Slime, which spawn at Depth 25.
  • Added Antidote, which has 3 sips which will heal poisoning.
  • Added an armor system, and Armor (and Tunics) to go with it. An armor durability bar has been added underneath the healthbar.
  • Oh, so armor wasn’t enough for you? The second new addition is the Shield, which can be used to block attacks, whether they’re projectiles or physical. They can only be used in your hand.
  • Added Moss and the Moss Scraper. Moss restores a little bit of hunger in a pinch, and spawns like Puddles do.
  • Added a Credits Page to credit contributors. Currently there is one extra contributor: Reptacular, who designed an NPC named Kitty who will be available in Beta 1.6. They also redid the opening cutscene art.
  • Title Screen Background redone to better fit the style of Reptacular's intro.
  • Added Mimics, monsters masquerading as treasure chests. Make sure you hit the chests before opening them, otherwise you’ll be caught off guard. They can be found at and past Depth 10.
  • Mimics weren’t enough on the enemy front, either? Added Pot Gremlins, little monsters that live in Pots that’ll give up their life to protect their hoard.
  • Added Mutton to foodstuffs. Grants the biggest hunger bonus.

Minor Fixes, System Reworks

  • Made Upgrade Point arrow flash.
  • Streamlined the coding of the usage system down to a single list.
  • Made a new invincibility system, so adding new methods of pure invincibility will be easier later on.
  • Foodstuffs list created, used in Bandit stealing script.
  • Turkey Legs give more hunger.
  • Added another slot to the death screen, reading off what killed you. Currently only reads enemy names, but it’ll have poison and hunger/thirst added in Beta 1.5.
